The City of Mandaluyong placed 2nd in the overall ranking at the Philippine National Games 2023 after gathering 35 gold, 42 silver, and 39 bronze medals.
The annual national sporting event held last December 17-22, 2023 in Pasig City was participated by 193 local government units (LGU) from all over the country. It was held simultaneously with the Batang Pinoy (Philippine Youth Games) 2023.
Mayor Ben Abalos and Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos congratulated all the participants and said the city, through Ordinance No. 741 S-2019, will be giving cash incentives to winning athletes, as well as their trainers and coaches.
Mayor Abalos said the city continuously support local athletes to help them gain the opportunity to make it in the professional leagues or as national athletes in the future.
