The City Government of Mandaluyong led by Mayor Ben Abalos today held its 14th Nutri Fun Run as part of its continuous promotion of healthy living to the public. Joining the local chief executive in the activity are Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, and all city officials.
An estimated 10,000 individuals participated in the 3-kilometer run which started at 5 a.m. from the City Hall heading towards Martinez Street to Fabella Road and back.
Mayor Abalos, who chairs the City Nutrition Committee, encouraged everyone to shift to a healthy lifestyle by choosing a sport that they like or join the different sports the city government is promoting such as boxing, basketball, and different martial arts.
Consuming nutritious meals and avoiding junk food and sugary drinks are just some of the advice of Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, who is the vice chairman the City Nutrition Committee and a nutrition advocate for the city.
As former mayor of Mandaluyong, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos continues to campaign the fight against illegal drugs under the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” or BIDA Program of the agency. The annual nutri-fun run is also anchored to DILGâs BIDA Run encouraging every MandaleÃąos to be fit and healthy by giving importance on life by avoiding the use of illegal drugs.
The 14th Nutri Fun Run is part of the city government’s series of activities in celebration of the 49th Nutrition Month.
