Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos proudly announced that Mandaluyong City was awarded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGFH) for its excellent performance in good governance that placed special emphasis on fiscal transparency and accountability.
In her statement, Mayor Abalos said: “The Good Financial Housekeeping seal is true validation of our commitment to ensure transparency and honesty in the proper utilization of public funds; and is further proof of our pledge to ensure proper utilization of the taxpayers’ money in meaningful and effective programs designed to uplift the lives of each and every Mandaleño.”
Mandaluyong excelled in the areas of audit identified by the DILG and complied with the highest in accounting and auditing standards set.
The first area was on Good Planning hinged on the effective and efficient implementation of the Comprehensive Development Plan and Executive Legislative Agenda. Second was on Sound Fiscal Management based on the findings of the Commission on Audit, and the proper local government annual budget and updated local revenue code, including quarterly and annual statements of receipts and expenditures. Third was Transparency and Accountability centered on the compliance to the Anti Red Tape law and the full disclosure of local budget and finances, bids, and public offerings. Lastly, Valuing Performance Information hinged on the proper utilization of the performance monitoring tool or scorecard system.
