Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Aerol Sedrick A. Mangaliag was born on November 17, 1994. He is the eldest child of a policeman, Alvin L. Mangaliag and a computer engineer, Sebastiana Ampaya Mangaliag.

He is a product of a private school system and a special science curriculum, during elementary and high school, respectively. He is a consistent academic awardee during his elementary years in Don Bosco School Manila, and a consistent achiever in City of Mandaluyong Science High School. He makes sure that he excel in his education, since his parents inculcated a remarkable lesson in him, that quality education is one of the precious gifts that can arm him to surpass different challenges in life, and it will serve as his passport towards success.

SK President Aerol, then studied at the University of the Philippines – Manila, under the course, Doctor of Dental Medicine. He graduated this 2018, and became a licensed Dentist in December 2018. Despite the difficulty of the course that our SK President took, he still managed to be part of both school-based organization and student government in the University of the Philippines-Manila. He was the Vice President of UP Dental Health Brigade in 2018, an organization that conducts different dental missions all over the Philippines, to provide free dental services to the underserved members of our community. He also served as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the UP College of Dentistry Student Council, for two consecutive years. He also became the President of the Philippine Dentistry Students Association-UP Manila Chapter. Given his background in dentistry, he championed a program named Smile Kabataan, where he advocated the importance of oral health and provided basic oral health care. At present, he is a 4th year Medical Student at St. Luke’s College of Medicine. He is truly an example of a well-rounded “iskolar para sa bayan.”

SK President Aerol is already in his second term as the SK Chairman of Barangay Hagdan Bato Itaas. In his previous term as SK Chairman, he conducted programs that provided a holistic approach on youth development. His projects in Barangay Hagdan Bato Itaas, were in front-row of the Sangguniang Kabataan projects in Mandaluyong, and contributed to the Most Child Friendly City Award during that time. He promises to continue all the good programs that he started and to think of more innovative programs that will progress the youth. In the 2022 Sangguniang Kabataan National Summit, organized by the National Youth Commission, SK President Aerol was awarded with the Most Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Award for 2022, for his projects during the Pandemic. He lives by his tagline “May nagawa na, may magagawa pa”, because he believes that public service never ends, with or without position, as long as you have the heart of a servant leader.

SK President Aerol also excels in sport activities. He is a varsity player from elementary up until college. He is a swimmer, and competes professionally. He also plays badminton and volleyball. Likewise, he has a talent for singing. He joined different singing contests from elementary to high school, and consistently bagged different trophies and awards.

SK President Aerol is a member of various organizations, he is a sitting member of Mandaluyong East Board of Directors-New Generations of Rotary Club of Mandaluyong-Mother Club; he is also a sitting Board member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, City of Mandaluyong Council.

He is an advocate of youth development through youth empowerment. He lives by the saying, borrowed from President Franklin Roosevelt: “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future”.
