FIRST GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR SPECIAL AWARD

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin C. Abalos Jr.  receives the trophy from Atty. Jose Malvar Villegas, Jr. (center), President of the Philippine American War Centennial Foundation, Inc., after being cited by the foundation for his outstanding performance in local government service, nation building, people empowerment and community development. PAWCFI also acknowledged the efforts of Mayor Abalos while being president (2007-2010) of both Union Of Local Authorities of the Philippines and the League of Cities of the Philippines in a concurrent capacity and while upholding a sterling leadership as Mandaluyong, the Tiger City’s local chief executive. PAWCFI is commemorating this year the 100^th death anniversary of Gen. Miguel Malvar, known to be the last general to surrender to American occupational forces at the turn of the century.
