Mandaluyong gains another Red Orchid Award from DOH

Mayor Menchie Abalos holds the Red Orchid Award given by the Department of Health at the awarding ceremony held in Manila Grand Opera Hotel. Mandaluyong City is once again given recognition by the DOH for the local government’s consistent implementation of anti-smoking programs. The award serves as proof that the city government is serious in achieving and maintaining a 100% tobacco-free city through its massive anti-smoking programs that are comparable to the quality standards set by the World Health Organization. Smoking has been identified to cause life-threatening diseases such as diabetes, cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Also in photo City Health Officer Alex Sta.
