Mandaluyong  kicks off   50-day  “Paskuhan sa Tiger City” 

Spanning a  period of  50 days, the City of  Mandaluyong  today kicked off  its grandest and biggest Yuletide activities dubbed as  “Paskuhan sa Tiger City 2012”.

Mayor Benhur Abalos, with distinguished guests and officials  led the ceremonial switching of  the 40-feet tall Christmas tree in front of  the New Executive Building  and  the formal opening of  300 booths offering an assortment of  goodies and souvenirs at the City Hall grounds.

“Thousands of  people from all walks of  life come here every in this time of  the  year to celebrate with us. This Paskuhan symbolizes the true spirit of the season – giving, sharing and bringing cheers to all ,” Abalos stressed.

He explained that as in the previous years, he is counting on an average of  7,000  residents and visitors from different areas who will experience fun and excitement 

Main attractions in the event which runs from 5pm to 2 am daily are  fireworks                 display, fun rides and nightly variety shows  featuring guests and local talents. 

Shoppers are expected to be delighted with the long lines of stalls offering the best finds ranging from houseware, branded apparel, souvenir items, toys, shoes, accessories, grocery items, food  and many more at bargain prices.

“More than the glittering lights, colorful lanterns and well-decked City Hall, that we want to display here is the kind of partnership between the city government and the private sector. Lahat dito ay nagtutulung tulong , kasama natin ang mga  malalaking kumpanya sa siyudad na nag pailaw ng mga gusali dito, para pasayahin ang ating mga kababayan ngayong Kapaskuhan,” said Abalos.

The mayor added, ” Sa Mandaluyong makikita ang tunay na Pasko. May Kristyano, may Muslim, may mahirap, may mayaman. Mga Filipino, kahalubilo ang mga turista at dayuhan.”
