Mayor Abalos was recently given the award on Best Paper at the 4th International Conference on Good Governance and Transformative Leadership in Asia where he lectured on Decentralization, Democracy and Development of Local Governance: Mandaluyong City Experience. Held in Thailand and organized by the College of Politics and Governance-Mahasarakham University, this year’s conference focused on the Magsaysay Awardees as icons of laudable service to the people and integrity in governance. Through the event, policy makers, government practitioners and scholars from Asia and Southeast Asia gather to share their experience and researches in promoting change and development through good governance and leadership. Mayor Abalos is flanked by a Japanese conference participant and Higher Education Commissioner and Filipino political scientist Alex Brillantes, Jr. at the close of the event.
