Mandaluyong City bags 7th Seal of Good Local Governance

The City Government of Mandaluyong reached another milestone after receiving once again the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for the year 2023.

The said award was received by Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, on behalf of Mayor Ben Abalos and the city at the 2023 SGLG Awards ceremony at Manila held by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos personally handed the award to local chief executives of winning LGUs, along with other agency officials.

Mandaluyong City is among the 22 LGUs in the country, and one of two LGUs in NCR, that has consistently won the SGLG. The award is another laurel for Mandaluyong which marked it’s seventh consecutive SGLG since the city’s impressive streak began in 2015. It also serves as a reaffirmation of the city’s dedication to elevating local governance.

Mandaluyong’s latest Seal serves as testament to its continuous commitment to uphold the DILG’s standard for LGUs on financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, business-friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace, and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture, and arts; and youth development.

The city’s 7th SGLG is the latest addition to its growing list of awards. Recently, Mandaluyong was also recognized with the Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) after being declared as beyond compliant or having exceeded the standards for the establishment and capability of their LDRRMCOs under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 or Republic Act No. 10121.

Mandaluyong has likewise passed the surveillance 2 audit conducted by the National Quality Assurance Philippines Inc. (NQA) making it the city government’s third ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Full-Scope Certification.

These awards clearly show that the City Government of Mandaluyong continues to aim for better public service with programs and services that are considered up-to-date and within international standards.
