Athletes representing the City of Mandaluyong were able to grab 20 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze medals at the Batang Pinoy (Philippine Youth Games) 2023 games held last December 17-22, 2023 in Pasig City.
Despite placing 11th in the overall ranking, Mandaluyong is the fourth LGU with the highest number of medals among the participants from the National Capital Region (NCR).
Mayor Ben Abalos said young athletes winning such medals in a national competition is a huge achievement for a city as small as Mandaluyong.
Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos said that the athletes who represented the city and won gold, silver, and bronze medals in their respective sports are entitled to receive cash incentives including their coaches and trainers.
